![]() You don't want to put chips in a reflow oven after exposed to water (humidity has already done the damage if they weren't in factory packaging) without a proper bake. You do not want tap water to dry on board but clean distiled/rubbing alcohol rinse is ok (you don't want to redeposit stuff in your dirty water/alcohol by evaporation). I even use water followed by distilled water/rubbing alcohol. WD40 works perfectly and rinses off with fairy liquid.ħ0% rubbing alcohol is absolutely fine for a quick clean. Iso alcohol is ineffective against the type of gunk caused by long term smoking / vaping. Same for the cooler / fans, although be careful with getting the fans wet - it will be good as newĮDIT : i feel like a few commentators here have ever cleaned a GPU. Looks like they maybe re-padded it and the pads are slightly too thick - especially the lower pads with the little squares, see how deep the indentations are? the pad probably cant compress any more and it's ever so slightly too thick preventing good contact / pressureĪlso, the whole thing is a bit dirty - you can clean the PCB by drenching it in WD40, giving it a clean with a paint brush, then rinsing it off with warm soapy water.
